I'm thinking that recipe web sites don't understand that i want to read or look at pictures. Not both at the same time! When I'm looking for something I want a broad selection I can scan. A list, or summary, tags too, all text based. Info at a glance.
Images are more of a ponder. Is that it? Perhaps thumbnails as the default for the image option. Image searching for mouth watering dinner suggestions that can be sorted any which way.
A person can scan visually or make comparisons. Likely both ways of looking don't happen at the same time. If I'm scanning text then the images take up so much room I have to scroll to see continue reading. That is in itself so annoying. Conversely, when I'm looking for pictures it's strange how there is no standard feature to allow me to sort images. Why can't I switch to a button grid view of thumbnails that are sortable?
Does anybody else worry about this? Have you done something about it?

?view=textand?view=imageas a user-controlled display toggle — not a reader mode cleanup, just a content dominance switch. Is that something your project could support?”
